Men have played the role of James Bond for many years, it’s no wonder news of a female actress possibly taking over the famed role triggered an overwhelming amount of mixed reactions among fans.
In an interview, former 007 Pierce Brosnan broke his silence over the matter. He expressed his full support of a female James Bond and said that it’s about time a woman takes over.
The veteran actor who played the intelligence officer through four Bond films from 1994 to 2005, believes it would be exhilarating and exciting to see a female Bond for a change.
“I think we’ve watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. Get out of the way guys, and put a woman up there!” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, today’s reigning Bond, Daniel Craig also agrees on the idea of a woman being the driving force of the storied spy franchise.
He told Variety in an interview recently that “of course” the iconic role could be played by a woman.
It was reported in July that actress Lashana Lynch will be 007’s successor for an upcoming Bond film but no word yet if the rumour is true.
Meanwhile Craig is still set to reprise his role as the spy for a fifth and potentially final time in the next Bond film, No Time To Die, slated to be released next year April.
