Happy World Vegan Day! This is a special annual event celebrated by vegans around the world. What was once considered to be a niche market has evolved to become more mainstream. The vegan lifestyle is not just limited to food, it’s a way of living that attempts to exclude all forms of animal cruelty, whether food or clothing and even personal care and cosmetics.
A person who has adapted the vegan diet particularly avoids animal products such as meat, eggs, and dairy. There are many benefits to adapting a vegan diet. When you eliminate meat and other animal products, you tend to rely on other source of food like fruits and vegetables which are incredibly nutritious. By consuming food of this category (plant-based), you will take in more fiber and antioxidants.
Also, vegans tend to be thinner and have a lower body mass index (BMI) compared to non-vegans. It was noted that a plant-based vegan diet can help to reduce the risk of mortality from conditions like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, stroke and more.
When you follow the vegan lifestyle, you are also highly conscious on making informed and ethical decisions on your purchases for personal and beauty care. What you consume on the inside, is equally important on what you put on your skin. Vegan make-up products for example are made up of ingredients that are mainly sourced from plants or vegetables. Vegan products are never tested on animals, therefore they are 100% cruelty free. Besides that, vegan products are safe for the hair and skin.
Here are some simple ways to celebrate the compassionate choices we make in conjunction with World Vegan Day.

Apple pie cinnamon rolls by @healthyholisticview 🧡 Filling: 200g vegan butter 1.5 dl (0.5 cups) organic cane sugar 1/2 dl (0.1 cups) Ceylon cinnamon 4 organic apples Dough: 150g vegan butter 2 dl (0.8 cups) boiling water 3 dl (1.2 cups) cold oat milk 50g fresh yeast for sweet bakes 1 dl (0.4 cups) organic cane sugar 12 -15 dl (5 – 6.3 cups) wheat flour 1/2 tsp himalayan salt How to: Start by blending together the filling with a electrical whisk, except for the apples. Then pour the boiling water together with the cane sugar and salt in a bowl then add the cold oat milk, make sure the fluid is room tempered and then add the yeast. Stirr until it's combined and then start adding the wheat flour. I started with 5 dl and blend it evenly and then 5 dl more and knead it in evenly, then I added 1dl at a time until it realised from the edges of the bowl. (I had about 13dl total). Divide the dough in to two. **Then put one of the dough batters on a clean table sprinkled with flour. Roll it out in to a rektagle and spread out half of the filling on top. Shred two of the apples and sprinkle on top. Roll it in to a roll and chop up in to about 1,5 inches buns and put in a baking sheet lined pan. Put a clean towel on top and let it rise for 1.5 hours. When there's about 20 minutes left put on the oven at 225°C/450F. Put in the buns for 8- 15 minutes, take it out and let chill. **Repeat the above step. Prepare the glace with 4 dl icing sugar, 4 tbs cold water and a tsp lemon juice. Whisk together and drizzle on top! #bestofvegan
