If you happen to be in Malaysia at the moment, make your way to Halal Fiesta Jakim (Halfest Jakim 2019), an annual event dubbed as Malaysia’s largest halal expo.
The event which is back for its 8th edition, returns refreshed under the Malaysian Halal certification authority, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim).
The event is hosted by the Prime Minister’s department in collaboration with Jakim adnt he Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP).
Held at MINES Exhibition Centre (MIECC), Seri Kembangan, Selangor until 8th September 2019, visitors are able to explore about 520 participating booths with 450 participating exhibitors promoting and selling all kind of halal-certified products and services made in Malaysia.
All products and services offered are from various industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceutical, Islamic banking, cosmetics and more.
The event is also held to promote asnaf (underprivileged) entrepreneurs and to promote halal culture to both Muslim and non-Muslim consumers and entrepreneurs.
Yesterday, the event was graced by Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. She spoke about her hopes to see more underprivileged participants in the coming years with the help of companies contributing to zakat.
Halfest must formulate newer mechanisms and changes every year and come up with programmes that bring about greater impact to entrepreneurs, industries, consumers and the country, she said.
Halfest Jakim 2019 will be open to public from 10am to 9pm until Sept 8. Entrance is FREE.
