Even mega superstars need a little R&R sometimes! Members of super popular K-pop group BTS are set to take a much-needed break from world domination after relentlessly performing across the globe since their debut in 2013.
The extended hiatus is well-deserved after the band’s groundbreaking success over the years which include a sold-out world tour, scoring a Grammy nomination, landing at the No.1 spot on the US Billboard 200 chart with their debut album, collaborating with top Hollywood artistes, and the list goes on.
The band’s agency Big Hit statement said the break allows a chance for all seven members – Jimin, V: The Series, Jin, Jungkook, Suga, J-Hope and RM – to rest and recharge.
“The period of rest will be an opportunity for the members of BTS, who have relentlessly driven themselves towards their goal since their debut, to recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators.
“This will also provide them a chance to enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in their 20s, albeit briefly.”
The agency also requested for fans to respect the band member’s privacy should they encounter them during their time off.
“BTS will return refreshed and recharged to return all the love you have and continue to show them. Thank you.”
There is no word how long the vacation will last or what they will be up to while on their break, but can we maybe expect some solo work from the members respectively? Just days ago member V released his own single called ‘Winter Bear’, and before that RM joined Lil Nas X for an ‘Old Town Road’ remix titled ‘Seoul Town Road’.
Meanwhile, the news was surprisingly well-received among the ARMY (the band’s fandom). Many were thrilled to learn their fave musicians will be taking some time off.
A fan commented on Big Hit’s post on Twitter: “I’m so more than happy that yes finally bts are going to REST they needed this so badly, I’m happy from the bottom of my heart, may they live the way they want and have great memories, I love you BTS, rest well and have a wonderful ME time.”
Another wrote: “I love you very much and hope you enjoy your break to the fullest.” The news also sparked some hashtags like #RestWellBTS and #HappyVacationBTS.
Until then, if fans miss seeing the boys in action, they can play BTS World, a mobile game based on the boys’ rise to fame.
Have a good rest, boys!
