It’s hard to find a place to stay in Singapore that’s worth the price. You may get space, but the room might be dated or the location is just too far away from the touristy spots, while newer hotels are available at ideal places but the rooms might just fit you, your travel partner and a pair of shoes. No space for luggage or anything else.  What if we tell you we found a hotel that offers space, newness and excellent location? Let us introduce you to 30 Bencoolen.

30 Bencoolen is a 4-star hotel situated on Bencoolen Street and it’s part of the famous Bayview International Hotel & Resorts group. Yes, the same Bayview group that owns Bayview hotels in Pulau Pinang, Melaka, Pulau Langkawi and a few locations in Australia and New Zealand. Therefore you don’t have to worry about quality and comfort here.

What makes 30 Bencoolen different from other hotels in Singapore? We’d like to share our experience from staying here with you.

Luxurious Space and Amenities

Unlike other hotels on Bencoolen Street or other tourist spots in Singapore, the rooms at 30 Bencoolen are spacious. All the rooms are almost uniform in size, that is around 23 square meters (284 square feet) while the Junior Suite and Family Rooms are about twice the size of that. The Junior Suite can accommodate a maximum of three people and the Family Room can fit four. Both rooms come with two bathrooms, so there’s no need to fight for the shower with your travel mates or family members.

Some hotels come with a study table while smaller or newer ones complete omit this feature but 30 Bencoolen comes with not one but two study tables making it a suitable hotel for those who travel for work. The balcony rooms however comes with only one study table, but hey, you get a very nice balcony in exchange. With the lush greenery planted around the balcony, you’ll instantly feel like you’re in a tropical resort and not in the center of Singapore.

Other amazing perks of this hotel includes– rooftop swimming pool and jacuzzi (the only one on Bencoolen street!), gym and self-service laundry room.

Luxurious Food Options

30 Bencoolen’s in-house cafe is not certified halal but fret not, halal food options are plenty within the vicinity of the hotel. There’s an amazing chicken rice stall at the food court right next to the hotel, a 24-hour restaurant about 5 minutes walk away that serves good roti prata and sardine fried rice, as well as two Subway outlets and McDonald’s a stone’s throw away. You’ll never go hungry. In case you get the midnight munchies, there’s a 7-11 next door.

The famous Arab Street and Sultan Mosque is also an easy taxi ride away. Not even 10 minutes and you’ll be having tasty murtabak at the famous Zam Zam or Victory restaurant or sipping coffee at the one of the hip cafes around that area.

Strategic Location

While we stayed at 30 Bencoolen, we managed to attend shows and at Esplanade Theatres on the Bay and exhibitions at the ArtScience Museum and Asian Civilisations Museum without breaking a sweat. The Downtown MRT line is right at the doorstep of the hotel, Circle line is about two minutes away, and the hotel is sandwich between two very useful bus stops that can take you to hot shopping and touristy spots around Singapore. Dhoby Ghaut station (Plaza Singapura) (intersection of three MRT lines) is only about 5 minutes walk away.

We also like how the hotel is situated across Bencoolen Mosque, giving you another alternative for prayer space, apart from the nearby Sultan Mosque.

Like what we’ve shared so far? When booking a room at this hotel, it’s best to book via 30 Bencoolen’s official website for the cheapest rate online and fastest WiFi connection during your stay.
