Salmon is loved by many because it’s not only packed with plenty of omega-3 fatty acids but it’s also delicious and easy to prepare. It’s super versatile meat where you can enjoy it both cooked and raw! Here are a few easy ways to cook salmon at home, if you’re a salmon lover.

PAN FRY IT
Pan frying the salmon is quick and easy. It’s a great method for salmon fillets if you want to develop the crispy, crunchy skin on the outside. Here’s a tip: Season the salmon fillet with salt and pepper, heat up the hot skillet in medium-high flames with a little butter or olive oil and start by pan frying the salmon skin-side up. Don’t touch it and let it sizzle for about 5-6 minutes.
Then take a spatula and flip it over, cooking the other side for about 3 minutes. Once its ready, squeeze in some lemon, and you’re good to go. You can choose to eat the fish on its own, but it matches well with some plain rice or some salad.
Another quick and easy way to cook the salmon is to roast it in the oven. This is a great alternative for those who want to cook several salmon fillets or steaks at once. All you need is a baking dish or a skillet.
Our recipe suggestion would be the Dijon Salmon.
¼ cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 ½ tablespoon honey
4 teaspoons chopped parsley
4 salmon fillets
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix the butter, mustard, and honey together in a bowl. Brush the seasoning mixture onto the tops of the salmon fillet. Season with a little salt and pepper and parsley, place the salmon skin-side down on a greased baking dish or skillet, then bake it at 400 degrees F for about 15 minutes max. No need to flip the fish!

If you’re into raw salmon more than cooked salmon, you can easily whip up a DIY poke bowl at home!
Recipe suggestion: Spicy Salmon Poke
Buy some fresh salmon fillet from the local supermarket and cut it into cubes (make sure it’s fresh and safe to eat).
For the sauce you’ll also need:
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce (shoyu)
1 teaspoon sriracha
For the Poke you’ll need:
215 grams of salmon cut into cubes
½ avocado (peeled, pitted, and cubed)
Salt to taste
Cilantro to garnish
Chili flakes to garnish
Whisk the sauce for ingredients together, then add the salmon and avocado. Season with salt, serve it over a bed of hot rice, then garnish with cilantro and chili flakes.

To do this, turn the oven to broil and place your seasoned salmon (salt and pepper would do!) on a sheet pan. Slide in onto the top rack of the oven about 3 inches from the heat source and it should be cooked after 3-4 minutes. Check the centre if it’s well-done and if it’s not you can let the salmon sit in the oven for just a few more minutes. Serve it with a side of potato salad, rice or even pair it with some plain aglio e olio pasta!
Steaming isn’t just for vegetables, it can be done for salmon too! With steaming, you get a much more moist effect, as opposed to grilling. For this, you’ll need to skin the fish and trim out the blood line. Season the salmon with any seasoning of your choice – we recommend sizzling some soy sauce, salt and pepper over the fillet, sprinkle some scallions and ginger.
Place the salmon in a steamer rack and steam it for 8 to 10 minutes. Test the fish if it’s cooked, otherwise steam it for a few more minutes. When done, remove it from the steamer rack and drizzle some sesame oil over the fillet, and voila!
